Creating Caravaggio

In this two-week workshop, the student will create an original, Caravaggio-style painting, working from photographs of the live model.

To learn the process and techniques used by the master, each member of the class will first copy a painting by Caravaggio, chosen from the four reproductions shown further down this page. In the second half of the workshop, the students will each create their own original painting in Caravaggio's style, using photos of the live model that are provided by the academy.

The workshop begins with a two-hour lecture that demonstrates, in detail and step-by-step, how Caravaggio created his seemingly miraculous works.

A short biography of Mr. Angel can be found on the Angel Academy's website. He is listed in the Art Renewal Center's Living Masters Gallery.

Each student will first make a small copy of one of the paintings shown below, before going on to create their own single-figure composition in Caravaggio's style. Please choose which image you would like to copy during the first part of the workshop, so that the Angel Academy can supply you with a high-quality reproduction of that painting.

The cost of some of the materials are included in the fee. Other materials, however, are to be supplied by the student. A materials list will be provided upon registration.

Workshop Fee: Euro 1500.00
To Register: A non-refundable registration fee of Euro 500.00 is required at the time of booking, and is payable by PayPal, bank cheque or bank draft.
Final Payment: Balance of payment of Euro 1000.00 should be received no later than 1st May, 2009.

Cancellation Policy: No refunds given.
Conditions: A full refund will be given in the event that the Angel Academy should, for whatever reason, need to cancel the course.
The fee covers 10 days tuition (60 hours of studio time, including lectures), but does not cover accommodation, airfare, transportation or any other expenses.
