The Angel Academy of Art, Florence, offers an intensive programme in traditional drawing and painting.

One of the very few such institutions in the world, the Angel Academy offers a curriculum designed to produce the highest calibre of professional artists, equipped to be leaders in the emerging renaissance of classic, realist painting.

The Angel Academy of Art has two locations, both in beautiful 16th-century palazzi in the historical centre of Florence. Each is a short walk from the Duomo, Florence’s famous cathedral, the Uffizi Gallery and the Ponte Vecchio. The teaching studios feature controlled lighting, vaulted arches, and ample working space.

Florence is one of the most beautiful Renaissance cities in Europe; it is inspiring, intimate and safe. The cost of living is on par with most other small cities, and the open-air food markets are a wonderful excuse to keep to your budget. It is also easy to travel around the city and its environs, as the public transportation system is excellent and affordable.

Classes are in session Monday through Friday, leaving the weekends free for students to complete home assignments and to visit the local galleries, the majority of which are located in the historical centre of town and are easily accessible on foot.

Optional evening classes and related study:
Each evening during the week, students have additional opportunities to study. Twice each week, students of all levels can work from the live model. Students who have progressed past the initial projects may also participate in a twice-weekly portraiture workshop. All students are invited to attend the lecture series on art history and techniques.

The Angel Academy also supplies students with letters of introduction to visit and copy the original old master drawings in the Gabinetto dei Disegni in the world famous Uffizi Gallery.
